According to a recent national survey conducted for the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences:

• Salon owners report that they had enough business last year for 391,000 additional positions.

• The average income was about $32,000, which is above the national average.

• There were 1,345,000 professionals employed in the nation's 285,179 Beauty Salons, Barber Shops and Nail Salons.

• 55% work full time, 22% work part time and 22% are self-employed (booth rental in a salon).

Employment opportunities continue to look great. It's a career-seekers market.
