Admission

All Applicants must complete the following criteria before being officially admitted.

1) Must be a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate showing a high school equivalency. The student must document this by providing a diploma or GED test scores.

2) Must be at least 18 years of age by the time the training course is completed in order to qualify for licensing examination by the state of Indiana or Illinois.

3) Must hold a valid cosmetology license.

4) Has actively practiced comsmetolgy for at least six (6) months in a licensed cosmetology salon.

5) Must complete Application for Enrollment form and beginning 2005 pay a $50 non-refundable application fee. (Download a PDF of this Form)

6) Must have a personal interview with a member of the staff

7) Must be accepted for admission by the Admissions Committee of the Academy.

8) Must have made the required financial deposit on or before the first day of class.


Curriculum

Our Academy is in session five (5) days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. School hours consist of Tuesdays and Saturdays, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and Wednesday through Friday, and 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Students are are given 60 minutes for lunch with 30 minutes on Saturday. Based on the above scheduled hours attended each week, this course is considered a full-time schedule. Since this training program is based on the completion of 1,000 clock hours, only those hours of the student's actual class or clinic participation will be counted toward the completion of the 1,000 hours.

Orientation & Review of Pertinent Curriculum – 150 hours
Introduction to Teaching – 60 hours
Course Outline & Development – 330 hours
School Administration – 50 hours
Assisted Teaching – 150 hours
Practice Teaching – 260 hours
TOTAL HOURS – 1,000
